LESS DRIVING. MORE MOUNTAIN TIME.

A mountain day with a local guide.

Find a guided hike or snowshoe experience that fits your pace, your season and the way you’re getting around.

The meeting point matters as much as the route

For a visitor without a car, the first question is where the day begins. Some guided activities include a transfer from Banff. Others require you to reach the trailhead independently. Check this before comparing prices or choosing an outing.

The options below give you two different starting points for research. Choose your activity directly with the provider; Shuttle Goat handles your airport connection separately.

BANFF DEPARTURES

White Mountain Adventures

An option for travellers comparing scheduled guided hikes with winter snowshoe experiences. The company publishes separate hiking and snowshoe programmes, so choose the one that matches your travel season.

Getting there without a car
Its daily guided hiking page includes transport from Banff to trailheads. Most snowshoe tours also include a return transfer from Banff, but confirm your particular tour and exact pickup.
Before you book
Ask about the date, fitness level, total duration, required clothing and included equipment. A summer hiking programme does not establish winter availability.

BANFF, CANMORE & THE BOW VALLEY

Get Outside Adventures

An option for a private hiking or snowshoe day tailored with a guide. Contact the team about your group, preferred pace and dates before choosing an itinerary.

Getting there without a car
The private day-trip page says participants provide transportation to the trailhead. If you are travelling without a car, ask whether a suitable arrangement is possible before booking.
Before you book
Confirm the meeting point, notice required, gear, any applicable pass and the complete price. Share your group's experience and any access needs when enquiring.

Pick the day that fits your group

A private outing can give you room to discuss pace and interests. A scheduled small-group trip may offer a more straightforward departure to plan around. Compare walking time, elevation, terrain and the whole day’s duration, including transfers.

For winter dates, ask about snowshoeing or another seasonal experience rather than expecting a summer hike to run unchanged. The guide should explain the current plan and what happens if conditions require an alternative. Bring up children’s ages, mobility needs and previous experience before paying.

Check whether equipment is included. If you need to collect your own gear, our Banff and Canmore rental guide helps you plan the extra stop.

A simple enquiry you can send

“We’re staying in [Banff or Canmore] on [date] and won’t have a car. There are [number] of us, with [experience or fitness level]. Which guided trip would suit us, where would we meet, and does the price include transport and equipment?”

Once the provider confirms the plan, check the journey from your accommodation to the meeting point and back. Keep your airport arrival and a time-sensitive outdoor departure on separate days where possible.

Check the details at the source

White Mountain Adventures publishes daily hike transport information and snowshoe programme details. Get Outside Adventures explains its private-trip requirements. Use these pages to start your enquiry, then confirm the arrangement for your date.

YOUR AIRPORT CONNECTION

Start with the ride to the mountains.

Choose your destination, check departures and plan the rest of your trip around your arrival. Airport travel, local buses and activity transfers are separate bookings.
